Inane People

SO, as many of you know, I am an avid Harry Potter fan. It's almost an obsession, really, but that's not the point of this post. I read recently that yet another claim has been made that J.K. Rowling stole from other books to write the Harry Potter series. This claim is being made by the author's family, the author of said book is dead. Apparently in this book, the main character, a wizard, goes through a series of tasks that is similar to HP #4. Besides the obviously idiocy of this claim, and all claims like it, I just wonder why these people think that their relative was the first to come up with a series of tasks and then has their character go through them. Even if the premise is the same, the tasks are no doubt completely different. People just need to stop accusing people of crazy things, like stealing material to write books from other books. I might also point out that the idea of having a hero go through tasks is as old as the Greek myth of Heracles (Hercules). So, are the ancient Greeks going to come out of the grave to accuse Rowling of stealing material from them? No, this claim, as well as all of the previous claims, are just ridiculous. She had never even heard of, nor read, the book in question. The Harry Potter books changed my childhood and I am just tired of people trying to steal Rowling's hard earned money. She's a brilliant author who doesn't need to steal from other people to come up with awesome plot lines and characters. End rant.
